Eliminate EGR and database files

Assist me! I am in desperate need of advice regarding an egr/dpf delete. I've had my b200 Amg 2.1 d for 18 months, and for some reason, the engine management light keeps coming on at random, with the codes p0401 and p2002. A year ago, I had an egr replaced, and now my mechanic says that this is the best way to fix the problems. I would greatly appreciate any feedback you have on this matter. Much obliged.

To begin with, it's against the law and will result in a MOT failure if the MOT station is even somewhat competent....

Does it look like it came from Mercedes? I installed two aftermarket EGRs in my car, and they were both of high quality. Within days, one of them threw codes. I bit the bullet and shelled out three times as much for the real deal, and I haven't had any issues since. I was fortunate enough to be able to return the other two for a refund. If you can identify the real problem and fix it correctly, skipping over the legalities and drawing out a plan is not a fix; it's a bodge. Find a more competent technician who won't advise you on illegal "solutions" and will do a better job.

Yes, I drove 700 miles to and from Devon last week. On the way home, the light came on near Reading service. I was unable to use the paddle shifts, so I turned off the engine. The light stays on, but it briefly comes out of limp mode.

Additionally, why would you even bother to buy a new EGR if he was going to recommend deleting the EGR map?
