Hello there, I just noticed that the drivetrain light came on in my automobile.
A mechanic I took it to determined that there was a boost leak. The following week, the same thing occurred again; after trying a different sensor, which also failed, they determined that the turbo was faulty and needed to be replaced.
I scheduled an appointment at BMW services for a second opinion, and the light is no longer on. I took the car for a test drive today, and it handled the road well, making no noise or experiencing any problems with speed.
The mechanic may have mentioned that it was showing up as overboost or underboost, but I don't have any codes to share with you at the moment.
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions as to what else it could be, preferably not the turbo.
Much obliged

Having particular codes would be a nice start, but it's impossible to identify what the problem is without really looking at it. You should be conducting some troubleshooting and discovering the source of the problem before applying a turbo because there are several potential causes of boost issues.

Amass a BMW-exclusive code reader. Have a look at Amazon or eBay. It's sufficient if it can read and clear the codes; a super dupa isn't required. Ancel bm700 is the one I own. Can register battery life, read and clear codes, and perform a few more tasks. Scarcely £60. Very worthwhile

You should get a scanner for yourself and save the money you spend on it, as said earlier. BMW will charge you a pretty penny for theirs.
