I figured I'd start a new thread dedicated to my original quest to find the source of the problem.

How does one go about removing the crank bolt for a do-it-yourselfer or home mechanic?

I have been unable to locate any information regarding a locking tool for this particular pulley design, and the access is too tight to conduct an impact test. I have the necessary tools, such as breaker bars, but I was hoping to see how others have dealt with this problem before I make something.

I am grateful.

Would it be possible to use a breaker bar and socket to loosen the nut? You would need to place the bar end on the floor and turn the engine over for a short period of time.

Although I would find myself in a comparable predicament if I were to retorque the replacement, this is my subsequent strategy. There are products that claim to lock the flywheel, but in order to do so, you have to remove the starter, which in turn seems to necessitate moving the exhaust, which can be a real pain when you're driving on a driveway.

You did request ways to reverse it, so I guess that counts as my defence 😁

Taking out the AC condenser and radiator leaves no room for a rattle gun, right?
