Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 2017.
The brake light in picture 1 turns on the moment the key is inserted into the ignition switch (we are missing the stop-start button).
Before you see picture 2, turn on the ignition.
Turn the key to the "D" or "R" position until the light turns off, as shown in picture 3.
Even after removing the key, the engine will turn on again; however, after a short period of time or when the car is locked, it will turn off.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

We have been very careful with the brakes since we first got the car, but about 14,500 miles ago, we had to replace the front and rear brake pads.

Notification light for parking brake?

With the automatic park brake engaged, it appears to be quite typical.
Press the parking brake when you shift into park
When you shift into park, the brakes will release on their own.
Press the park brake and then turn off the ignition; the light will remain on for about 30 seconds to indicate that the park brake has been applied.
