Too much heat is let in by the OEM moon roof tint. Do you know who did it? I would greatly appreciate any experience you can provide, including brand.
In terms of heat rejection, radio signal interference, and light transmission, what kind of tinting is optimal? I received contradictory advice from two stores I contacted. It is reasonable for them to BS since neither shop does both.

All of the glass in my 2022 CX-30 CE was tinted or coated with Spectra PhotoSync IRD heat-rejection film: the side and back windows (30%), the front windscreen (70%) and the moonroof (30%). In southern Arizona, it was a lifesaver when it came to preventing the heat and that cooking sensation from penetrating bare skin through glass. In terms of heat rejection, it outperforms both 3M Crystalline film and premium ceramic film, which I had previously used before getting my hands on my CX-30. No matter how hot it gets outside—115–120 degrees with a clear sky and intense sun—I never have to turn my air conditioner on more than the third fan setting. So, it's good for your air conditioner and helps keep it running smoothly. Shortly after buying my 2026 Mazda3 sedan, I also did the identical setup. On the other hand, it's more expensive than the other options I listed.

I installed ceramic film on my moonroof and it significantly reduced heat without interfering with my radio, GPS, or cell signals. The ideal option, while still allowing plenty of light in, is typically a high-quality ceramic tint if heat rejection is your primary concern.

Thank you for getting back to me, SDH and davidjenkins. I need to locate a nearby tint shop that stocks the film that SDH uses; if it works well in the hot Arizona sun, it should do the trick in the middle of the Atlantic.

You can still find 3M crystalline film in the car tinting scene, and it's a lot easier to work with than Spectra PhotoSync IRD foil when it comes to heat rejection. In terms of heat-rejection properties, the Arizona store I frequent rates it as an excellent #2.

All of my glass is Xpel XR 70% ceramic tint, which I love.
