These parts seem to be more budget-friendly options for older vehicles, based on what I've read. I haven't been able to track down any information regarding the potential distinctions between, say, "regular" 229.52 MB oil and Star Parts MB 229.52 oil, or between air and oil filters, etc.

Is it just a marketing ploy to get more people to buy "genuine" parts for their older cars, or does anybody know the difference between the two?

The other day, my local dealer called me completely out of the blue and offered me a Mercedes service for £200 in exchange for a vehicle they haven't had in a few years. I am aware of Mobilo and similar companies, but that's only half of their usual fee for what is likely just an oil and filter change. Maybe all I'd have is instant coffee and slow internet.

The "star" part is new to me; do you happen to have a link?

Looks like MB Newcastle is the only one who has added the word "star" to the description; I found them. Presumably, it attracts more individuals to their part description, right?
