Bimmerlink provided the following engine code history. By the time this screenshot was taken, the engine light had already gone out. Accordingly, it's possible that some of these are no longer relevant.

29A0 or 2D2C would be my suspicions. Additional information would be greatly appreciated. What part of the engine compartment does it seem to be emanating from, and does it have a more mechanical or vacuum-like sound?
