I am interested in finding a long-term solution, and the AI from Suzuki has informed me that the dealer will not do this. Can you please provide some ideas on how to do this? Thank you.

Because it is related to emissions and approval, most newer Suzukis won't have the dealer code it out; instead, you'll likely only see the dashboard button when you start the engine.

Aftermarket stop/start memory modules are a common choice for those looking for a "permanent" solution. These modules remember the last state of the button and effectively turn it off upon startup. If you want to avoid problems with charging or warning lights, I wouldn't recommend cutting wires or ignoring battery sensors. Ideally, the module would be plug-and-play behind the switch panel and specifically listed for the 2019 SX4 S-Cross 1.0 Boosterjet if you decide to go that route.

Each time I turn on the engine of my present (non-Suzuki) car, I have to press four buttons: one to lock the doors, one to acknowledge the Driver Aware message on the head unit, one to activate the Brake Hold function, and finally one to disable the Stop/Start* feature.

I do it almost imperceptibly now, but it sounds like a lot but only takes a few seconds.

I get that Stop/Start has its uses, but the way my system is configured, it gets in the way of my dashcam's ability to record when I fully stop, even though it has a backup battery.

Could you please explain it to me? I'm not very good at understanding it. Out of all the vehicles I've driven with it, the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas was the only one whose implementation I thought was good. The others were inconsistent or even dangerous.

As someone who worked as a school crossing patroller on the side during COVID-19, I can attest to its usefulness in situations where cars are halted for long periods of time due to things like traffic lights, roadworks, or stop-and-go traffic. Covering for people down with COVID was my job, and I was sent to a lot of different places. Someone at one elementary school had the bright idea of running three main bus routes down a road where residents parked on either side, making it one lane in each direction. Going home with a pounding headache, watery eyes, nausea, a sore throat, and the most repulsive phlegm and snot imaginable was a combination of factors, including my incessantly stopping traffic so children could cross and the 'feels like' temperatures hovering below zero. It seems likely that my blood type became Pb Positive for a short period of time.

Except for that one spot, everything else was OK. S/S would not eliminate all of the exhaust noise, but it would significantly lessen it. I would demand routine chest x-rays to monitor my lungs if I were a permanent employee there.

I can only remember a few instances where S/S turned on when I didn't want it to, and those were either when I was still getting the hang of the system or just plain distracted when I first got my car. Over the past 6 and a half years, it has consistently turned on only when I specify it to.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but you need to unplug the sensor wires from the bonnet latch. Because of this, the car will never activate its start-stop system, thinking the bonnet is open. The fact that there is no orange warning light on the dashboard is an additional perk. Alternator charging occurs more frequently than CPU-mandated intermittent bursts, which some worry might be harmful to the battery. As far as battery life is concerned, I think it's better, not worse. So far, I've done it for 1.5 years in a Renault and 2 years in a Suzuki. As for me, there's never been a problem. Attempt it at your own peril. To access the latch, I had to partially disassemble a grill (which had plastic pieces sitting on top of it) for my 2018 model. Reassembling the whole thing probably took around twenty to thirty minutes.

I don't know if this is universally true, but my Honda S/S won't start if I hold down the clutch for a couple of seconds after stopping completely.

Since I use an electronic brake rather than a handbrake, this method also disables the Auto Hold function, so I don't use it.

In addition, S/S is only functional for a few months of the summer because my vehicle must meet so many requirements before it can activate.
