Greetings! I recently attempted to modify my seat, but it fractured and the seat abruptly reclined, now failing to remain in an upright position. It is a lever mechanism rather than a rotational knob.

I am encountering difficulties determining the appropriate term for seeking a substitute component.

The segment made of plastic is the one that fractured; I am uncertain if that pertains to the hinge cover. The bolt also fractured, but I managed to remove it and can install a new one in that scenario. However, the plastic component intended for that location is completely fractured.

Must I substitute the plastic? Is it permissible for me to simply insert a new bolt? Additionally, I possess the fragments that detached and could potentially reattach them with epoxy; however, I am concerned about inadvertently bonding a movable component.

It is not a component that can be substituted; you will have greater success locating a replacement seat.

Do you have any proposals or advice on activities to engage in during this interim period? I am contemplating whether I can temporarily install a new bolt and if that would suffice for the moment. I must continue operating this vehicle, and locating a substitute seat will require time and likely incur significant costs, as I reside in Canada and most spare parts suppliers are located in the United States.

Do you possess the original bolt, and are the threads in the seat frame still functional or are they damaged?

Is the Camry manufactured in the United States or Japan? Did the bolt become loose or ?? I suspect that the seats are manual, correct?

Japan and manual, indeed. The bolt appears to have fractured into two pieces. Additionally, upon further examination, it does not correspond with the opposite side, leading me to believe this was substituted previously...

It may be advisable to visit the dealer to purchase the bolt and plastic trim. Verify with the dealer.
