I am approximately a week away from obtaining my ISTA+ software, or perhaps this inquiry would be unnecessary, but I seek some guidance!

I purchased this vehicle in late July, and soon after the acquisition, the check engine light would illuminate after I accelerated aggressively for merely a few seconds. The message displayed on my I drive indicates an engine malfunction. Reduce energy output. Proceeding is acceptable. Proceed to the BMW dealership." I sensed a reduction in power, yet it was not as significant as commonly depicted in descriptions of "limp mode. In truth, it was hardly a reduction.

Following some online investigation (possibly misguided counsel), an individual in a Facebook group suggested adding Chevron Techron High Mileage to a new tank of petrol and then using regular Chevron for the subsequent fill-up. Numerous individuals appeared to concur, thus I proceeded accordingly. It appeared to provide significant assistance; however, the check engine light would still activate if I accelerated rapidly and maintained high velocity for a brief period (approximately a minute, not exceeding 120 mph). Having completed the fuel treatment and currently on my third tank, I accelerated fully today and it activated almost instantly before reaching 80 mph.

I have conducted research both here and elsewhere, gathering various ideas, but I would appreciate the insights of the experts present!

Please be advised that I exclusively utilise 91 octane ethanol-free petrol. I am uncertain regarding its fuel history.

In all sincerity, until you have examined it, any recommendations from others are merely conjecture. Speculating is futile and may incur costs; I recommend remaining patient until ista arrives and avoiding excessive acceleration.

The most excellent counsel I am about to receive! lol. What is your opinion on the various laptop software options that are accessible? Was ISTA an error? I have been advised to choose INPA. I possess an INPA disc that I was unable to download correctly despite meticulously following the instructions for downloading, deleting, and redownloading multiple times. Could you possibly recommend an affordable laptop software that encompasses all my automotive needs for both major and minor services and repairs? I was utilising diagnostic station software with remote installation capabilities. I have been directed to Mikes Easy BMW tool package. What recommendations would you provide?

Indian Standard TimeOnce installed and operational, it is significantly more user-friendly; I cannot comment on Mike's Easy Tools as I did not utilise it, but I have previously encountered references to it as a reliable method of acquisition.
