Every year, we go on a long vacation and forget to lock our cars in the garage. Our Cayenne's battery died (it was nearly 5 years old, so there's that) while the Range Rover was fine upon our return from a 6-week excursion in May of last year. I purchased two CTEK 56-926 charges and had them set up a few days prior to our seven-week spring trip. Upon our return, both vehicles appeared to be in good condition and started without any issues.
While my Range Rover was unplugged from the charger, I noticed some peculiar behaviour. For approximately two weeks out of the seven weeks that I was able to track it with the app, the car was awake and running. Then it entered a sleep mode, which the app displayed. I left the car unplugged for a week this month. It remained alert for four days before entering a slumber beginning on the fifth day.

After four days of inactivity, InControl will automatically put the vehicle to sleep. To keep it awake for longer, you can change this in Settings/InControl, but there's a risk of parasitic drain.

Oh, I get it. Cars are fascinating because they appear to be able to detect when a charge maintainer is in use.

From personal experience, I can say that I left my unlocked P530 on a charger for a full seven months. It remained asleep until I approached, at which point it roused itself instantly. I got it going with the battery maintainer connected, and then I disconnected it. It's as good as new even after three days.
