Greetings everyone,

We are currently driving a 2014 Renault Clio, which is getting a little crowded with our 18-month-old and labrador, so my wife and I are considering upgrading to a Kia Sportage.

I was wondering what people think are good value options among all the Sportas because there are so many.

The higher desirability and better fuel economy around town are making me consider the HEV model.

Our family is debating whether or not to spring for the 2023 model with the comprehensive Kia service history and, consequently, the 7-year warranty, due to the heftier price tag.

Also, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the GT-Line trim compared to the "Pure" if you think it's worth the extra money. Opinions from owners of 2023 models would be particularly helpful because the trim information has become increasingly confusing due to the changes in names and features over the years.

After learning more about PPF issues, I've changed my mind about our original plan to use it mostly for shorter trips and keep our current car for longer ones.

What's the status of your 2016 Sportage? Resolved any notable issues?

My mom's 2017 Sportage is spotless, but she drives it every day for work and has put 100,000 miles on it, nearly all of which are on highways. She's worried about breaking down and thinks she needs a new one soon.

Third owner purchased in 2022 with 55,000 miles on the odometer; heeded advice from this forum to fix the sticky steering; now 67,500 miles on the odometer; and, having worked as a mechanic in the past, I know the importance of regular maintenance, including oil changes and filter replacements.

Having a complete service history is crucial in the event that anything major goes wrong, and the 7-year warranty is absolutely necessary in my opinion. The version you go with is totally up to you, but I tracked all the specs in an Excel spreadsheet and prioritised them based on my needs and budget. Since I was not in the market for a sunroof and the '2' was only available in petrol at the time of my purchase, I opted for the GT-Line instead. In my opinion, PPF problems on HEVs are extremely unusual.
