Recognising Evoque

Just over a year ago, I bought a 2015 Evoque. Today, I got a recall notice regarding a bolt on the power steering. Contacted Hatfields Shrewsbury, a nearby Land Rover dealership, to schedule appointments for the vehicle. I spoke with Callum from the service department, and he told me that Land Rover had told them not to take recalls if they hadn't supplied or serviced the vehicle. Has this happened to anybody else when dealing with Land Rover dealers?

Confused about what transpired there. I was going to say something about how ridiculous it would be if that turned out to be true.

It makes no difference who supplied the steering racks, whether the owner moved on, or if they were never serviced; a recall is a well-documented safety issue.
According to JLR, it is necessary to address the matter since you have a recall letter.
As soon as the warranty expired, mine stopped having the main agent service it. Despite my purchase in Coventry, it was completed in Northampton.

I had never been to Land Rover Exeter before, but I just had my 2014 vehicle serviced there. Everything was washed, valeted, and examined without a hitch.

It seems to be a matter of dealership policy. I had a similar experience three years ago with a different Hatfields branch regarding a recall on my full-size Range Rover. They were unwilling to inform me about the safety recall, so I had it done at another Land Rover dealership and it's still working fine now. Regrettably, we have relocated since then, and the dealer responsible for the full-size RR recall is located more than 80 miles away.

They are out of order because they refuse to acknowledge that only dealerships can handle recalls.

Would it be possible to inform JLR Customer Services? The fact that a franchisee of theirs is declining to implement a recall due to safety concerns may pique their interest.

It will be pointless unless there has been a change in JLR customer services. When another Hatfields location refused to recall my full-size Range Rover a few years ago, I went through with that because they basically said the dealer could handle the recall. But this time the dealership claims that JLR told them to only fix vehicles that were previously serviced or supplied by them. I don't believe them and have even contacted the press to make this matter public.
