This seems strange to me because I've been driving for almost fifty years, all with manual transmissions, and I can't think of a way to release the clutch after stopping completely. I usually shift into neutral and let off the clutch when I anticipate being at a stop for more than a few seconds—for instance, when I'm sitting at a red light—but if I'm at an intersection and think I can get going in five or ten seconds—do you have "all way stops" where you are?—then I'll engage first and keep the clutch depressed. In just ten seconds, I'll be rolling with my left foot on the clutch and my right foot on the brake. In a similar vein, an automatic will deactivate in this situation, but I'm crossing my fingers that it will reactivate the moment I release the brake.

It appears that you have misunderstood my post.

It has come to my attention that my vehicle's Stop/Start feature is ineffective in situations where the clutch is held down for a few seconds following a full stop at a traffic light, roadworks, etc. Conversely, if I stop completely and then release my foot from the clutch, the system will activate provided all the necessary parameters are satisfied.

I keep the car steady by balancing the clutch and accelerator pedal in preparation to accelerate away from obstacles where I do not want the system to activate, such as roundabouts or junctions.
