The longer the days grow shorter, the more time I spend driving at nite. Despite my preference for a low-level illumination surrounding the door pockets and below, I am utterly annoyed by the two stripes that extend above the dashboard. Not only does the bright stripe reflect in the door mirrors, but I also think it ruins my nite vision. It's still far too bright, even though I've turned the ambient lighting down to its lowest setting.
Accordingly, I am seeking advice on how to conceal these two bars. It would be rather tacky if I just gaffer taped them over. I wish I were more adept at painting, because I would attempt to tone them down. Disassembling the dashboard and soldering the led strips is something I'm not sure I want to do. Does anyone here have a solution to this problem? If so, what is it?

Maybe experiment with various hues to find out if any stand out more than others?

You should really have the option to turn them off.
My goodness.

Like you, this was annoying me.

With only a few weeks under my belt and a single nighttime drive under my belt, I haven't had a chance to put this to the test...

This was grating on my nerves as well.

So far, I haven't had much of an opportunity to put this to the test, what with just a few weeks of experience and only one nighttime drive.

Really, that's the crux of it. The only way I've found to turn off the door picket lights, which I'm not a huge fan of, is to set the brightness to zero. I am considering trying some 4mm drafting tape across the dashboard. I can remove it if I sell the car, but I intend to keep it for the time being.

Additionally, you can find 4mm copper strip on eBay.

Thoughtful; I'd like that if my car had the brick red paint job.
