Coolant overheating/mobile mechanic required

Post by Charlie » Sat May 11, 2019 12:49 pm

My 2011 MGF began to overheat yesterday. The coolant level was fine and then suddenly dropped to empty. It appears to have escaped through the cap, rather than leaking into the engine or through a faulty hose. There had been the sound of air escaping but I couldn't identify the issue. The brakes are normal, there is no loss of power and no mayo in the oil.

The engine temp gauge had been normal until it shot up suddenly, so this could be an issue with the thermostat?

I'm looking for a mobile mechanic in the Loughborough area or any help to diagnose the issue. Please help!

Did you check the thermostat and also that the spring loaded radiator cap was ok ?
