One of the most famous MG cars was a car used at Abingdon MG car factory as a run around for workers, the car became full of paint speckles which and became the talk of the town. The car took on the nickname "Owld Speckled 'Un" by locals (which later developed to form the name of a beer still sold today called 'Old Speckled Hen' which was first brewed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the MG car factory.

The car was originally built in 1927, M.G. produced it as one off prototype - a four seater saloon with a fabric body painted gold and curiously stippled with black. This was kept on moving the factory to Abingdon in 1929.
