Alternator Issue

Post by Andrej Jovanov » Fri Aug 07, 2020 4:39 pm

Hi folks.
New to group. Previously owned MGB Roadster and GT in the 90s. Now have another GT (ACY71D).

The alternator has died. It appears to be an old alternator (lucas part 23566A) with a rectangle +and- terminal at the top and then a three pin IND below to the left.

Been informed this is no longer made and have a new one with only 3 rectangular terminals and no IND.

Rimmer Bros. advised that it would require an auto electrician to alter the power lead to fit the new model.

Can anyone advise me what to tell my sparky?

Any assistance greatly appreciated 👍

Hi

Whilst Lucas may not produce the Alternator you should have no problem in getting an Alternator with the correct terminal layout if you go via a MG specialists ..such as Moss-europe.co.uk , ...alternatively you can go to Autosparks of Nottingham who can assist in the wiring and fittings for a conversion kit ..
