Re: Fitting an Accuspark

Hi thanks I'll give it a try! I'm always a little over cautious but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet (or the condenser!!) and get on with it!

Have either of you definitely seen any performance/running improvements since the change?

Re: Fitting an Accuspark

Are you going for the full set-up i.e. replacing your dizzy, or just replacing the points? I've got the point replacement and it was easy if a bit fiddly (see http://www.incayellow.com/posts/fitting-an-accuspark" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ). If you have a timing light it'd be wo...

Fitting an Accuspark

After watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lcx_Qr0KyM" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I'd really like to fit an accuspark to my MGB GT '78. The procedure looks ok but my concern is when the timing in the video changes and he has to make an adjustment... I wanted to ch...

Re: Our little Midget Project!

She's going to be completely worth all the work by the look of it :D

And those wheels make me really want to get mine done in the same way!

What a fantastic paint job too, I also prefer the colour now. I bet you can't wait to get driving the (like-new!!!) car?

Re: Silly question about compression tests...

Just to posting further results. I went back out and took the compression tests this time with the accelerator fully depressed which boosted the readings quite a bit. mgb_compression_test_cylinder1.jpg mgb_compression_test_cylinder2.jpg mgb_compression_test_cylinder3.jpg mgb_compression_test_cylinde...

Re: Silly question about compression tests...

Generally it runs very well but I've recently noticed the ocassional misfire in 3rd and 4th gears. But it's very intermittent and some runs out are smooth, and the problem disappears again. I've not seen any smoke from the exhaust so I'm inclined to think it's more to do with mixture settings. I wan...

Re: Silly question about compression tests...

Today I used my MBG's immobiliser to do my compression tests and can confirm this works great - no need to disconnect any wires or connections. These results are with a warmed up engine and closed throttle. Here are photos of my 4 cylinders' results... 20131011_190107.jpg 20131011_185826.jpg 2013101...

Re: 1979 MGBGT - Inca Yellow

What a beautiful angle. It somehow shows even more how shapely and curvaceous the B is. Especially in the bold Inca yellow. Really nice :)

Re: So how many MG's do you have?

It's fantastic how cars have personalities. A guy up the road I know has an MGB GT and he's fixed a small metal squirrel on the bonnet. So it's a bit like a Rolls Royce or Jag from the front of the car with a "flying" mascot! Even I was lucky to find a dog grill guard on eBay made especially for MGB...
