Re: NEC Classic Motor Show 2013 Sponsored by Lancaster Insur

Hey did you see the black MGB GT v8 on the Lancaster insurance stand - I fell in love that day haha. It was a great show, wish I could of spent longer there. Really cool to hear Quentin Wilson talking about petrol prices and his meetings with MPs etc, he's doing some really good work campaigning for...

Re: MGB hesitation and loss of power at 2800rpm

Hi Adam, I'm hoping to do the Goodwood Revival next year, really excited to see what it is like! I've had some time-out from the MG while it was in the garage for the chrome bumper conversion. But I'm now back in action at last!! I'm not sure how I'm fixed with the fuel filter, I just know I don't h...

Re: New to the forum

Hi Chuter, welcome to the forum! You're right there's not much activity here yet - it's still quite a new website and hopefully will attract a lot more users as it gets going a bit! Slow to warm up - just like my MG!! You're not out of place at all - everyone is welcome... Maybe you can tell some fr...

Re: MGB hesitation and loss of power at 2800rpm

Hi Adam, Thanks for helping as usual! I topped up the dashpots before the trip so I think they're ok. I also started out on a full tank of fuel - but I don't have a fuel filter in the engine bay so hard to check for debris... I think it may all come back to the timing again though. Yes I'm still run...

MGB hesitation and loss of power at 2800rpm

Hi I hope someone can please help. I had a fantastic day at the NEC Classic Motor Show and drove there and back in my 78 MGB GT. The car I thought was running great after adjusting the mixture, idle speed and timing the other week. Turns out the car is only running great under 3000rpm... I found whe...

Testing accuracy of Tachometer with Dwell Tach Multi Meter

Today I wanted to test if my tachometer is correct. My Draper multimeter has Dwell and Tach options, so I followed the instructions which are to 'Choose 4 cylinders' on the mulitmeter, then connect the positive lead to the negative side of the coil and the negative lead to the car body or earth. The...

Re: Fitting an Accuspark

Thanks Adam! As I was installing it I thought I hope Adam is proud of me!! ;) Any ideas what that internal (earth?) wire is for in the distributor? I wondered if it's even used by the electronic ignition? Also do you know roughly what MPG you currently get? I thought possibly advancing the timing sl...

Re: Fitting an Accuspark

Hi just an update on how fitting went. I've now fitted the electronic ignition unit, it took a lot longer than an hour due to unforeseen problems!! One was having to re-solder the red wire from the new kit due to having no terminals left on my fusebox and having to use a 'piggy back' style connectio...

Re: Fitting an Accuspark

Hi again - after some research on Accuspark vs Powerspark vs Pertronix Flamethrower conversion kits for MGB and other brands too!! I found a lot of opinion that many of these electronic ignition conversion kits are made by Britpart (via China...) and simply rebranded as 'Powerspark' etc. I can now c...

Re: 1979 MGBGT - Inca Yellow

It looks in pretty good shape under there from the photos. I wonder if any previous underseal/waxoyl work has been done since the factory stuff? I've heard it's usually the floorpans that have the most rust (certainly mine have some but luckily don't need replacing and have been welded and patched u...
