Haha I know, at first I used to make a list of to-do bits but then I realised the list was growing faster than the speed I took care of things so I've ditched it and just work on whatever I feel like and live with the rest!

Re: MGB hesitation and loss of power at 2800rpm

Don't know much about carbs, how would I go about doin' this ^. And with what oil ? Hi, to top up the dashpot oil just unscrew the two black plastic caps right at the top and just add 1 squirt of standard 50w20 engine oil from your oil can. Also just check the small breather hole on each is clear t...

Re: Idle to high

Hi have you set the timing correctly to the workshop book, I found with mine that there are quite a few different settings other than 10 degrees tdc depending on Engine number etc. Also it may be to do with your Vacuum advance at idle, which could be why the car is ok when moving and the advance cha...

Re: Oil Filter

Moss do some nice ones. K&N and such if you want to go upmarket, I just used one of their cheaper ones last time and it seemed good quality.

Re: Gearbox oil (for Laycock O/D 'box)

Hi I can't say I've used the Mini one - but it should be fine. Any classic style 20w50 will be good in all sorts of places round the MGB, I stock up on the stuff whenever I see it cheap. Wilkinsons of all places believe it or not sell a nice tin of 20w50 Classic Car motor oil and it's cheaper than t...

Re: Jonah's Brooklands Green 1978 MGB GT

Hi yes - I swapped them all a couple at a time. Mine were exactly like yours, dull yellow tinges! The hardest part really was getting all the bulb sizes! But yes I didn't really go in too deeply checking amps/watts and exactly what the bulbs should be. I just used a bit of trial and error. When orde...

Re: greetings from Pa. USA

Hi Chuter, yes it is very quiet here! The forums are very slowly picking up a few members being new, but lets hope things get going better now it can be found when searching for 'mg car forum' etc on Google and other searches!! It's taken a long time to warm up this year in the UK but I'm seeing loa...

Re: Coolant

Hi Kiki, I'm not sure what others recommend but I've always used Bluecol in my MGB GT. Bluecol is an old-school anti-freeze brand and was used back when these cars were new! It's kind on your hoses and pipes and doesn't have anything harsh in there - great for classic cars: http://bluecol.co.uk/inde...

Re: wavering speedo

Hi I'm now experiencing problems with the speedo wavering too! So first thing was first; I wanted the easy fix and tried to replace the speedo cable. After much fiddling I got the old cable out of the car, attached the new one to the speedo, ran it through the bulkhead and under the car - threw a cl...

Jonah's Brooklands Green 1978 MGB GT

Hi all. I've been meaning to post my car's profile since the forum launched, but I wanted to wait until my MGB GT has been to the garage for a chrome bumper conversion (as it's been booked in for a while now). I realise bumper conversions aren't for everyone and I too do love a stock car as much as ...
