Re: Restyling MGB GT Advice please

Hi and welcome to the forum! Great to hear from another MG owner. Well it is arguable that original is always better and worth more in the long run. However rubber bumper cars are still catching up with their chrome older counterparts in value and have to be completely stock and in great condition t...

Re: wind down window seals

Hi I've fitted new seals at the bottoms of the windows (are those the ones you mean?) and I've got to admit the retaining clips are a complete pain! Not sure what the correct way it, but I used Gardening wire (the green thin wire with the plastic coating on it) and made a hook so that I could slide ...

Re: Headlight controls

Hi welcome to the forum. I have a later 1978 car so it could be a bit different, but sounds like the amount of switches are the same. My dash switch is off, then side lights, then headlights. The stalk is then full beam and dip.

Hope it helps.

Re: Oil Filter change

Hi I had this very same problem. It turned out the thread on the filter base was threaded. I had to get a replacement filter base in the end, as no matter how much I tried to tighten it or re-thread it oil would still leak. This was due to the last filter being tightened up too hard. They are only m...

Re: Could a leak under windscreen cause car to stall after r

A further update to the problems... Ok so after rechecking if the SU HIF4 Carbs were balanced (or in sync) with a UniSyn tool, I found they had unbalanced a little. So I adjusted and after balancing them with the engine running and air filters still off I blasted the carbs and intakes with Carb Clea...

Re: MGB hesitation and loss of power at 2800rpm

Just a thought but as the tacho is indicating a loss of power at the time the engine looses power it would seem logical that the fault is not associated with the fuel system as this would not cause a glitch on the tacho. As it seems to be when the engine has been run for some time it may be associa...

Re: Could a leak under windscreen cause car to stall after r

Just to update what I've tried so far: 1. Fitted a fuel filter before the carbs (whoever had the car before me had removed it so no filter was present). 2. Replaced the old Starter Relay and Ignition Relay black plastic units with new ones. I've read before these can cause intermittent running if co...

Could a leak under windscreen cause car to stall after rain?

Hi I hope someone may be able to help. This problem is annoying as 95% of the time my '78 MGB GT is reliable and starts first time and runs good. It's my daily driver and takes me everywhere. But I keep noticing my Tach only works when I have the fan heater turned on or some other circuit, lights et...
