Re: MGB GT engine swap

If no suggestions have been made since January it could be well worth you carrying out the conversion yourself. Work out your shopping list for each of the options. Cost out each of them For each option work out what bodywork and other mods you may need to carry out on the car (other than bits that ...

Re: Poor brake pedal

Did you sort this ? I would suggest bleeding it through several more times and would also check the state of the flexible hoses unless they have been recently replaced.

Re: Converting Manual gearbox to Auto?

Converting a manual box to work like an automatic can be done but needs an ecu and a complex array of solenoids. It has been used on a number of cars including by Ford and Vauxhall. It could be possible to modify this setup for an MGB but it would require quite a bit of time and skill. It might just...

Re: Fuse Problem

With a new fuse in place but the wires disconnected (and taped) at both the horn and interior light try to move the wiring loom around to establish if it is movement of the loom causing an internal short. When the fuse blows you will know you have the right part of the loom to start investigating.

Re: Hello from Lincoln

That happened to me once with an AC Cobra replica-the end of the propshaft didnt half make a dent in the road. . It was a propitiatory thing that took weeks to be sorted, fortunately MGB bits are a lot easier to get hold of.

Re: MGB LST74P

It sounds a most interesting MGB. What sort of effect has the overbore and other work had on the performance compared to a standard B series engined B ?

Re: Hello from Lincoln

Its great to hear your choice of car Jim and lovely to read about you working on it with your dad. I have fond memories of getting my poor old dad out in all weathers to help me work on cars when I was your age.

Thats bad luck about the drive shaft, did one of the universal joints fail ?

Re: MG GT as first car?

Id really recommend an MGB also. Very mechanically straightforward and accessible hence easy to work on. Also they are generally easy to get parts for and there are an awful lot of owners you can learn from and swap stories with. The MGB and MGB GT are simply (but well) built sports cars that are go...

Re: Wheels Needed for 1969 MGB GT?

Its difficult to tell without knowing more. What size are your wheel rims and are they wire wheels, plain steel wheels with chrome hub caps or rostyles ?
